Light in my Darkness(Open) « Thread Started on Mar 10, 2008, 10:04pm »
Lynn walked into the hospital with her black German Sheperd, Carina, harnessed for her job next to Lynn while she gripped the handle of the seeing eye dog harness on the large dog. In her world of darkness this was the light. Not literally, but emotionally. She worked at the hospital helping children and teens that have suffered the same fate as her. No longer able to see. She remembered how it felt that first few weeks that you lost such an important necessity. Waking up to find out you could no longer see your family's faces or your favorite color. Things that you had never even seen, but wanted to.
So, now that she had learned all the important things she worked at the Blind Ward of the hospital and helped to teach children and teens and even some adults how to read brail and write and how to use your other senses, that would strengthen in time to make up for the one lost. This was her safe haven when she wasn't playing her piano or guitar. She felt a sudden thump against her shoulder and almost fell. She turned in the direction she heard the foot falls. "Just because I'm blind doesn't mean you can't excuse yourself." She said curtly waiting for an apology, but the only response she got was the continuation of footfalls to the exit. "Asshole." She muttered angrily as she shook her head and readjusted her glasses and then continued to the elevator with the help of Carina and her walking stick that had a wooden handle with musical notes carved into it as well as the little red strip at the bottom. When they got to the elevator she reached out and felt around for the buttons before she found the brail above them that told her which direction. She pressed the button and then just stood and waited for the elevator doors to open.
